The Greatest Gift, Inc. is a 501 (c) non-profit organization founded by Barry Malphrus in 2001 and created solely for the purpose of raising funds to create shoe box gifts for distribution by Operation Christmas Child, which is sponsored by Franklin Graham's organization, Samaritan's Purse.
Each year, this organization collects shoe boxes filled with small gifts such as small toys, toiletry items and school supplies. These gifts are given to children in third world countries who have been victims of poverty, hunger, sickness, disease and war. Many of these children are orphans and have no earthly family. Some live in orphanages, but many are homeless and live in trash dumps or on the streets. You can make a difference!
The children who receive these shoe boxes may only receive this one gift in their whole lifetime. These boxes truly go to some of the poorest children in the entire world. These shoe box gifts are vehicles to let each child know that they are loved, wanted and precious in God's sight.
This program not only blesses these little children in the midst of their misfortune but also will bless you as well by knowing that you can make a difference in the life of one or more children. Since 2001 (by the grace of God with the help from our team), The Greatest Gift has created a total of 14,586 shoebox gifts with donations. Our goal for 2012 is to do at least 2,500 more shoeboxes through this effort.
